Introduction
Every great journey begins with a first step, and for me, the first full day of Hajj 2026 was one I will never forget. After traveling from Atlanta to Houston, then Dubai, and finally arriving in the blessed city of Madinah, I woke up feeling grateful, humbled, and excited for what lay ahead.
Although I had finally reached Saudi Arabia, I quickly realized that Hajj is much more than traveling from one place to another. It is a journey that teaches patience, gratitude, and complete trust in Allah. Every moment, from waiting at the airport to standing inside Masjid an-Nabawi, reminded me that this pilgrimage is as much about spiritual growth as it is about reaching a destination.
Arriving in Madinah and Checking Into the Hotel
Like millions of pilgrims arriving during Hajj season, I experienced the busy arrival process at Madinah Airport. Immigration, collecting luggage, and arranging transportation all required patience. Thousands of pilgrims from around the world were arriving with the same purpose—to answer the call of Allah.
After completing the airport formalities, I traveled to the ZamZam Pullman Hotel. The hotel offered a comfortable place to rest after a long international journey. Even though I was tired from traveling, my excitement to visit Masjid an-Nabawi made it difficult to stay inside for long.

Walking to Masjid an-Nabawi
As I walked through the streets of Madinah toward Masjid an-Nabawi, a feeling of peace settled over me. This was the city where Prophet Muhammad ﷺ lived, taught Islam, and built one of the most important communities in Islamic history.
Seeing the beautiful white umbrellas surrounding the mosque for the first time was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was unlike anywhere else I have ever visited. Pilgrims from every corner of the world walked side by side, united by faith rather than nationality or language.
Every step toward the mosque filled me with gratitude. After years of hoping and praying for this opportunity, I was finally standing in one of Islam’s holiest places.

Returning for Tahajjud and Fajr
Although I was tired from traveling, I woke before dawn to return to the mosque for Tahajjud prayer.
The early morning hours brought a different atmosphere. The crowds were quieter, the air was cooler, and the peaceful surroundings created the perfect environment for worship and reflection.
Soon afterward, the call to Fajr prayer echoed throughout the mosque. Praying Fajr in Masjid an-Nabawi was a moment I will always remember. It was the perfect beginning to my Hajj journey and a reminder that every sacrifice made to reach this place was worthwhile
Lessons From My First Day
Looking back on my first full day in Madinah, several lessons stayed with me.
The first was patience. Every part of the journey—from airport procedures to transportation and navigating large crowds—required calmness and trust in Allah.
The second lesson was gratitude. Simply being present in Madinah was a blessing that many Muslims spend a lifetime praying for.
Finally, I was reminded that Hajj is not just about traveling to sacred places. It is about renewing our faith, strengthening our relationship with Allah, and becoming better people through worship, humility, and compassion.
Travel Tips for Visiting Masjid an-Nabawi
If you are visiting Madinah for Hajj or Umrah, here are a few tips based on my experience:
- Arrive at the mosque early, especially before Maghrib and Isha prayers.
- Carry a small bottle of water and keep yourself hydrated.
- Wear comfortable footwear that is easy to remove and identify.
- Stay patient during busy times, especially during Hajj season.
- Respect mosque etiquette and follow the guidance of mosque staff.
- Spend time making dua and appreciating the peaceful atmosphere of this blessed place.
Final Thoughts
The first day of my Hajj 2026 journey was everything I had hoped for and more. From arriving in Madinah to praying inside Masjid an-Nabawi, sharing Iftar with fellow pilgrims, visiting the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ resting place, and performing Tahajjud and Fajr prayers, every moment strengthened my faith and reminded me of Allah’s countless blessings.
This was only the beginning of a remarkable journey, and I look forward to sharing the rest of my Hajj experiences in the coming days. I hope this article gives you a glimpse into what it’s like to begin this life-changing pilgrimage and inspires anyone dreaming of visiting the holy cities of Islam.
May Allah accept the Hajj of every pilgrim and grant all of us the opportunity to visit Makkah and Madinah with sincere hearts.
Ameen.
