There are some places in the world that you visit as a traveler, and there are others that you visit with your heart.
Madinah is one of those places.
After spending the first two days of my Hajj 2026 journey in the peaceful city of the Prophet ﷺ, Day 3 became a day of discovery, reflection, and remembrance. Instead of simply exploring Madinah as a destination, I wanted to experience some of the places that carry an important connection to Islamic history.
From the quiet moments of Tahajjud at Masjid an-Nabawi to Masjid Quba, the historic Qiblatain Mosque, Mount Uhud, and the famous dates of Madinah, every part of the day offered something different.
It was also my final full day in Madinah before continuing toward Makkah.
Starting the Morning at Masjid an-Nabawi
The day began before sunrise.
I returned to Masjid an-Nabawi for Tahajjud and remained for Fajr Salah. There is a special atmosphere in Madinah during the early morning hours. The crowds, the lights of the mosque, and the quiet anticipation before Fajr create an experience that is difficult to describe unless you have been there yourself.
After prayer, we headed back for breakfast and prepared for the day’s Ziyarat.
Unlike ordinary sightseeing, visiting these places felt like stepping into chapters of history that I had learned about throughout my life
Masjid Quba: Visiting the First Mosque
Our first destination was Masjid Quba.
Located outside the central area of Madinah, Quba holds a unique place in Islamic history as the first mosque established in Islam. For anyone visiting Madinah, it is one of the places that carries a particularly strong sense of historical and spiritual importance.
Arriving there gave me an opportunity to pause and appreciate how much history is connected to this relatively peaceful location.
The mosque itself is beautiful, but what makes the visit special goes beyond its architecture. It is the history behind the place—and the connection to the earliest days of the Muslim community—that makes standing there so meaningful.
A Stop at Masjid al-Qiblatain
From Quba, we continued toward Masjid al-Qiblatain.
The mosque is closely associated with one of the most significant moments in Islamic history: the change of the direction of prayer toward the Kaaba in Makkah.
We were only able to view the mosque from outside during this visit, but that did not take away from the significance of being there.
Sometimes a historic place does not need a long visit. Simply knowing what happened there can completely change the way you look at it.
Reflecting at Mount Uhud
Our journey then took us to one of the most recognizable historical locations around Madinah: Mount Uhud.
The landscape around Uhud immediately feels different from the city. Standing in front of the mountain and looking across the surrounding area naturally brings thoughts of the events that took place here more than fourteen centuries ago.
The Battle of Uhud is one of the best-known events from the early history of Islam. Visiting the battlefield was therefore more than simply seeing another landmark.
It was an opportunity to reflect on the lessons of faith, patience, sacrifice, discipline, and perseverance.
History can sometimes feel distant when reading about it in a book. Standing in the actual landscape gives it a completely different feeling.
Discovering Madinah’s Famous Dates
After visiting the historic sites, the day took a more local turn.
Madinah is famous for its dates, and we visited a date garden and local market where we could see different varieties and explore some of the products available in the area.
After spending much of the day visiting places connected with Islamic history, this was a wonderful opportunity to experience another part of everyday life in Madinah.
The dates, local products, and atmosphere offered a small glimpse into the culture of the city beyond its famous mosques and historical landmarks.
One More Evening at Masjid an-Nabawi
Eventually, it was time to return.
But knowing that I would soon be leaving Madinah made the evening feel different.
Before ending the day, I returned to Masjid an-Nabawi for Isha and offered my salam. After three days in this blessed city, the thought of leaving was emotional.
There is something difficult to explain about saying goodbye to a place where you have spent your days praying, reflecting, and simply being present.
I knew the journey was continuing, but part of me wished I could stay a little longer.
Saying Goodbye to Madinah
Day 3 marked the end of my time in Madinah before the journey continued toward Makkah.
Looking back, these three days were about much more than visiting another destination. They were about experiencing a city that holds an extraordinary place in the hearts of Muslims around the world.
From the peaceful mornings at Masjid an-Nabawi to the historic sites surrounding the city, every day brought a different kind of memory.
Madinah taught me once again that travel does not always have to be about seeing something new. Sometimes it is about slowing down, remembering, and appreciating where you are.
The Journey Continues to Makkah
With our time in Madinah coming to an end, the next chapter of 16 Blessed Days was waiting.
Our destination was now Makkah.
The next part of the journey would take us from Madinah to Makkah by train, followed by one of the most important experiences of this pilgrimage—our Umrah.
Leaving Madinah was difficult, but knowing that Makkah was ahead made the journey even more meaningful.
Final Thoughts
Day 3 was one of those days where history, faith, travel, and personal reflection came together.
Masjid Quba reminded me of the beginnings of the Muslim community. Qiblatain brought the history of the Qibla to life. Mount Uhud encouraged reflection on sacrifice and perseverance. And returning to Masjid an-Nabawi in the evening gave me one final peaceful moment before leaving Madinah.
Alhamdulillah, I was grateful for every moment.
May Allah accept the Hajj and Umrah of all pilgrims, accept our prayers and good deeds, and grant every Muslim the opportunity to visit Makkah and Madinah.
Ameen. 🤲
