After hearing so much about Mina and seeing photographs and videos over the years, finally arriving there felt completely different. The famous tents were no longer something I had only seen on a screen. I was standing inside one, preparing to spend an important part of my Hajj journey surrounded by fellow pilgrims.
My First Impression of the Mina Tent
Walking into the tent for the first time, the first thing I noticed was how many sleeping spaces had been arranged together. Rows of sofa beds filled the area, giving each pilgrim a small place to rest and keep their belongings.
The setup was simple, but it was designed around the needs of thousands of pilgrims. There wasn’t a lot of unnecessary space or decoration. Everything had a purpose, and the focus was clearly on providing pilgrims with a place to rest between the different stages of their pilgrimage.
I found myself looking around for a moment, taking everything in. It was a very different kind of accommodation from an ordinary hotel room, but that was exactly what made the experience special.
Finding My Own Space in Mina
Among all the beds and pilgrims, I eventually found my own little sofa bed.
It wasn’t a large personal space, but after a long journey, having a designated place to sit and rest felt comforting. I knew that this simple spot would become my temporary home during an important part of Hajj.
There was something meaningful about knowing that thousands of other pilgrims were experiencing the same simplicity. Everyone had come to Mina for the same greater purpose, regardless of where they came from or what their everyday life looked like back home.
What Is It Like Staying in Mina?
Life in Mina is very different from normal daily life. Pilgrims gather together in a shared environment, following the schedule and responsibilities of Hajj while making time for prayer, rest, reflection, and preparation.
The atmosphere inside the tent felt communal. People from different backgrounds were sharing the same surroundings, and you could feel the sense of togetherness that makes the Hajj pilgrimage so unique.
For a short period, the usual comforts and routines of everyday life become less important. The focus shifts toward worship, patience, gratitude, and completing the pilgrimage.
A Unique Hajj Experience
One of the things I appreciated most was the simplicity of the experience.
The Mina tent wasn’t about luxury. It was about having a practical place to stay while being part of something much bigger. The rows of sofa beds, shared facilities, and close proximity to other pilgrims reminded me that Hajj is an experience of humility as much as it is a journey.
Seeing the arrangement firsthand also helped me understand what pilgrims experience during their time in Mina. Pictures can show you the size and appearance of the tents, but being there allows you to appreciate the atmosphere in a completely different way.
Meeting Pilgrims From Around the World
Perhaps one of the most beautiful aspects of staying in Mina is the diversity of people around you.
Pilgrims arrive from countries across the world, bringing different languages, cultures, and traditions with them. Yet inside the Mina camp, everyone is connected by the same pilgrimage.
That sense of unity is difficult to capture in words. You can look around and realize that people who may never have met under normal circumstances are now sharing the same space and participating in the same sacred journey.
Why I Wanted to Share My Mina Tent
I decided to record this experience because many people are curious about what the Mina tents actually look like inside.
Online, you can find plenty of photographs of Mina from the outside, but seeing the sleeping arrangements and the everyday environment from a pilgrim’s perspective can provide a different understanding.

A Memory I Will Always Remember

Knowing that I was in Mina, surrounded by fellow pilgrims and preparing for the days ahead, made the experience unforgettable.
The tent may have been temporary, but the memories created there will stay with me for a long time.
